The friendship society of otolaryngology is a non-profit charity organization, founded  in 1982, and was declared by the Ministry of Social affairs under the code number of 772.

The prime mission of the Society is to look after the welfare of otolaryngologic patients, especially the poor, the needy, the handicapped and those with special needs. Its main goal is to  provide them with every possible help and support.

Since its foundation, the society has been closely linked to the Department of Otolaryngology, Alexandria University.They both collaborated To provide the patients with the optimum and most caring medical service.

The society sponsored many scientific meetings, training courses and annual conferences which were organized by Department of Otolaryngology, Alexandria University to ensure continuing medical education for the postgraduate otolaryngologic specialist with the ultimate objective of providing the patients with the best and most updated medical service. The top ranked Alexandria Annual Scientific Congress has been yearly sponsored by the friendship society of otolaryngology since its first holding in 1981.

Another objective of the society is to share in modernization of Department of Otolaryngology, Alexandria University, in reconstruction and renovations of the department buildings, wards and operating theatres as well as sharing in financing the costs of buying modern operative and diagnostic instruments.
